The Unit for Total Defense Planning and Development works to strengthen Sweden's total defense and civil defense. The unit drives development issues concerning the entire civil defense, such as governance and follow-up, supply preparedness, protection of critical societal functions, personnel supply, and NATO's work on civil preparedness. Within the Government Offices, the unit is responsible for coordinating civil defense as well as coordinating between military and civil defense. The unit is divided into two groups: the supply preparedness group and the civil defense development group.

Your tasks include managing various parts of the unit's work to develop Sweden's total defense with a focus on civil defense. The core of the work consists of analyzing various factual conditions and achieved results, as well as proposing improvements and development opportunities with a particular focus on enhancing the capabilities of civil defense. A large part of the work involves quickly drafting and presenting high-quality written materials to the political leadership on current issues. Your tasks include handling both national and international matters. The execution of the tasks requires close collaboration with other unit staff and with other relevant staff within the Government Offices, as well as ongoing contacts with authorities and other relevant actors. It also includes participating in the department's collective actions during crises in society when necessary.

Your Background

To be considered for this role, you need to meet all the requirements, and preferably also the desirable criteria.

Requirements:

• Academic degree or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
• Relevant and current experience working with civil defense and crisis preparedness issues
• Relevant work experience in investigative, administrative, or coordinating tasks from a politically governed organization
• Understanding of the security political situation
• Knowledge of total defense and the structure and working methods within civil defense

Desirable:

• Experience working within the Government Offices
• Relevant experience in development, governance, or follow-up issues within a politically governed organization
• Relevant experience in governance and management issues at a strategic level within a politically governed organization
• Relevant experience working with civil defense within a politically governed organization

This announcement concerns a permanent position with a six-month probationary period as well as one or more fixed-term positions of approximately 12 months. Start date as soon as possible.
